The Meridian Blues are the 2026 MAL Champions. This coming after a 3-2 win over the Nacodoches Niners in the Championship Game.

The weekend began with a thrilling playoff matchup on July 31 (Friday) at Scaggs Field. With Meridian and Nacodoches going back and forth, the Niners won 6-5 in walkoff fashion, when Jay Kelly singled in John Pease to secure the victory.

Both teams squared off against the Bryan Yard Dogs on Saturday, with Nacodoches winning 3-0 and Meridian winning 22-0 to set up the final on Sunday.

In the top of the 1st, Landarious Clark singled in Sandrys Hernandez for the game’s first run. Nacodoches answered in the bottom of the second when John Pease doubled to center, allowing James Vanderpool to score. Pease would score on the next play via a fielding error by the Meridian shortstop.

Meridian would not trail for long. Hernandez walked, stole second, and would score on a two run home run off the bat of Brennan McNair. Meridian’s bullpen shut the door the rest of the way, only allowing six base runners for the remainder of the game. Meridian would secure the 3-2 final and their first MAL title.
