About the League
The Mid America League is a vibrant new baseball league focused on adding an exciting summer entertainment option to under-served markets in the south-central United States.
The Season
The League
The 2026 season begins May 21 and concludes in early August with a single-elimination semifinal and a three-game championship series. Each of the six teams plays a 64-game schedule — 32 home, 32 road.
The roster of 2026 teams includes the Beaumont Oil Barons, Bryan Yard Dogs, Fort Scott Dragoons, Meridian Blues, Nacogdoches Niners and Piney Woods Timberhogs.
Player Development
Built to Develop Players
Mid America League rosters include up to 40 players from NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, community college and junior college programs, along with select players maintaining their amateur status. Players develop with wood bats, stay with host families in their local market, and can earn income through a league-wide Name, Image and Likeness program.
Each team employs a head coach, pitching coach and hitting coach who work exclusively in the summer to coach and manage their Mid America League club.

A Proven Development Path
Summer baseball has been a development home for players for decades. More than 40 such leagues operate across the United States, but only a small number — including the Mid America League — are run like a minor-league professional team, with a focus on sales, customer service and value-add entertainment to complement the play on the field.
Scouts in the Stands
Most MLB players who played college baseball also played summer baseball, including many Hall of Famers, Cy Young winners, MVPs and All-Stars. Major League scouts are plentiful in attendance, as summer leagues often display many of the best collegiate players in the nation.

The Mid America League was founded in 2024 by Ventura Sports Group. Meridian is the defending 2026 champion.
