Encalada Jr and Morgan Claim Weekly Honors
The Mid-America League is proud to announce its Players of the Week, honoring two standout performances that helped drive their teams to success: Ravaughn Morgan of the Joplin Outlaws and Emir Encalada Jr. of the Abilene Flying Bison.
Hitter of the Week – Ravaughn Morgan
Team: Joplin Outlaws
Hometown: Pflugerville, TX
College: Oklahoma Wesleyan
Morgan was a force at the plate all week long, posting an incredible league-leading batting average of .520 while collecting 13 hits, including 5 doubles, and driving in 7 runs. His plate discipline was on full display with 3 walks, and he added to his all-around impact with 2 stolen bases and 11 runs scored. Morgan’s consistent offensive production was a major catalyst in Joplin’s success.
Pitcher of the Week – Emir Encalada Jr.
Team: Abilene Flying Bison
Hometown: Laredo, TX
College: UTRGV
On the mound, Encalada Jr. delivered a masterclass performance. Over 9 dominant innings, he allowed just 4 hits and 1 walk, while racking up a league record of 17 strikeouts in a game. With a 0.00 ERA and a 1-0 record, his outing was one of the most commanding pitching performances of the season, helping the Flying Bison maintain momentum in the standings.
