Freeman and Sweet Named With Week Eight Honors
The Mid-America League is excited to announce this week’s Players of the Week, Walker Freeman and Walker Sweet, highlighting two standout performances that led their teams and turned heads across the league.
Pitcher of the Week – Walker Sweet
Team: Joplin Outlaws
Hometown: Webb City, MO
College: Missouri Southern
Walker Sweet was lights-out for the Joplin Outlaws, delivering one of the most commanding starts of the season. Sweet went the distance with a 9-inning performance, striking out 15 batters and allowing just one earned run. His stellar week was backed by a 1.00 ERA and 0.89 WHIP, cementing his status as a dominant force on the mound.
Hitter of the Week – Walker Freeman
Team: Sherman Shadowcats
Hometown: Tyler, TX
College: McLennan CC
At the plate, Walker Freeman powered the Sherman Shadowcats’ offense all week long. The Tyler, TX native hit an eye-popping .545, collecting 12 hits, 6 RBI, 2 doubles, 2 walks, and a home run. His blazing 1.356 OPS was among the best in the league and helped fuel Sherman’s offensive momentum.
