The Mid-America League has named Michael Smosna of the Abilene Flying Bison as the Hitter of the Week and Jaxson Edwards of the Piney Woods Timber Hogs as the Pitcher of the Week, following standout performances.
Hitter of the Week – Michael Smosna
Team: Abilene Flying Bison
Hometown: Lubbock, TX
College: McMurray University
Representing McMurry University and hailing from Lubbock, TX, Smosna was a force at the plate, posting a scorching .500 batting average on the week. He tallied 5 hits, including 2 doubles and 2 home runs, driving in 6 runs and scoring 5 times himself. With an eye-popping 1.800 OPS, Smosna helped power Abilene’s offense and solidify his spot as one of the league’s top threats.
Pitcher of the Week – Jaxson Edwards

College: Lubbock Christian University
Also from Lubbock, TX, Jaxson Edwards — a standout from Lubbock Christian University — was lights-out on the mound for Piney Woods. Edwards pitched a complete 9 innings, allowing just 8 hits, no walks, and striking out 3 en route to a 1.00 ERA and a 1-0 record on the week. His command and efficiency were key in locking down a Timber Hogs win.
