Bryan, Texas Awarded Mid America League Baseball Franchise Play Begins in Summer 2026
Bryan, Texas – The Mid America League is thrilled to announce that Bryan, Texas, has been awarded a new expansion franchise, scheduled to begin play in the summer of 2026. The team will host home games at Travis Major Field, a historic venue central to the Brazos Valley community.
“Bryan is a vibrant town with deep roots in baseball and a passionate fan base,” said Nick Weisenborn, Executive Director of the Mid America League. “We're proud to bring a higher level of baseball to Travis Major Field and to open this new chapter of baseball in the Brazos Valley.”
Launched in 2024, the Mid America League has quickly become one of the premier summer baseball leagues in America. The league features top collegiate players alongside post-college players pursuing professional baseball careers. These athletes include players who were undrafted, unsigned free agents, or former professionals working to return to affiliated baseball. The league compensates its players through a Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) program, which is closely monitored by the league.
The Mid America League currently consists of franchises in: Joplin, MO; Fort Smith, AR; Texarkana, TX; White Oak/Longview, TX; Sherman, TX and Abilene, TX. The Bryan franchise joins Fort Scott, Kansas, Beaumont, Texas, and Nacogdoches, Texas as one of four new expansion teams debuting in 2026. The Mid America League is committed to growing and strengthening baseball in the region.
Each team in the league plays a 64-game schedule — 32 home and 32 road games — spanning from mid-May to mid-August.
“Baseball runs deep in Bryan, and we’re proud to carry that tradition forward with a new Mid America League team,” said Mayor Bobby Gutierrez. “This is a big step in making the most of our investment in Travis Bryan Midtown Park while growing sports, boosting entertainment, and giving our residents and visitors more ways to enjoy life in Bryan.”
Travis Major Field has long been a hub of regional baseball, and the new franchise aims to build on that legacy. “We're seeking strong local involvement from day one,” Weisenborn explained. “From helping select the team’s name, logo, and colors, to experiencing baseball with a Brazos Valley flair—from college student nights to hot‑local‑food concessions—we’ll honor the culture here.” A community‑driven “Name the Team” contest will launch this month, with the winning entry honored with lifetime season tickets.
